Around 70 individuals have participated in reclaiming a plot of land in Kew Bridge, Brentford, London.
The plan is to use the site to demonstrate sustainable forms of living whilst running workshops over the next few months.
Currently the occupants are working to clean up the site and set up basic requirements including compost toilets. The land was untill now earmarked for a controversial development and the camp has claimed they have already received alot of local support.
People are being encouraged to visit the site and help out in any way they can. You can see a wishlist at the following link http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2009/06/431835.html
Some of those involved have produced a video explaining a little bit about their plans.

This sort of grassroots practical action is integral to building a ecological/environmental movement that looks further than putting pressure on governments, industry restrictions and ‘green’ consumption.
Last Hours will publish further news on the eco-village as it takes shape.
