Our culture is saturated in images. They’re used to sell us almost everything under the sun. Everyone uses images. Well, almost everyone, radicals, anti-authoritarians and the Left for the most part are frustratingly useless at using images effectively. I’ve lost count of the number of meetings I’ve been in where we’ve spent hours on the tiniest semantic point in the flier text, whilst any sense of how the flier might be presented is completely ignored, and sometimes worse.

Good news for Dave

Our friend Dave Mahoney was in court yesterday (October 2nd) for a preliminary hearing. It went well with the judge dropping the assault charge that the prosecution was wanting to hold against him.

Climate camp carnet

About a year after the eviction of the former New Camberwell Centre a new social centre has been opened in Camberwell, London, not far away from where the previous one stood. The new building, ‘The Library House’ as it has been named, lies near Loughborough Junction rail station behind Minet Library.

The European Civil Liberties Network (ECLN) is calling for a day of action against excessive surveillance by governments and businesses. On 11 October 2008, under the title “Freedom not fear 2008” people in a number of European cities are organising protests against this encroachment of people’s individual liberties.
