i have read all points made and realized in my rant i made many grammatical errors and misspellings, thus i apologize for the crudeness. I am no slave but a cynic. perhaps worse depending on your perspective. Anyhow i just wanted to point out that where i may disagree with the your methods i understand your purpose. In light of recent events in Iran it seems as though the english anarchist ought go raise a little Cain over there and really rage against a brutal fascist regime.

"Jingo does make a valid point, if crudely drawn. The only replacements for capitalism that have ever been attempted are communism and various forms of dictatorships (monarchist, fascist etc.). All of these have one thing in common (except of course that they are all “state” control of everything) and that is they forbid the very freedoms that these banner wavers enjoy in order to demonize a system that allows freedom of expression. Perhaps they might like to go and demonstrate in N. Korea?"

Thats not really true. The anarchist movement has a long history, and in many countries was more influential than state-socialism for long periods of time. There have been attempts to put anarchist ideas into practice on a large scale in areas where it had a strong hold amongst the population - such as in Spain and the Ukraine . These had an important level of success before being crushed by the combined forces of bolshevism, western 'democracy', and in Spain, fascism.

The countries which call themselves 'socialist' are still capitalist countries, simply being ones where the state has assumed all the functions of private capitalists. Money, wage labour, private property, commodity production etc all still exist. As a result, class struggle still exists. There were strikes, demonstrations and riots in the Soviet Union, and there has been a massive wave of demonstrations, riots, factory occupations and strikes in China recently. In fact these struggles in cities like Dongguan have been so large that the state has been appeasing them and their 'free expression' rather than wading in and crushing them, as this would have been counter productive and would have set off more sympathy actions.

Its kind of amusing that these 'banner-wavers' are supposed to be mocking 'free expression' as they're being beaten about the head and detained in the country with the highest level of surveillance in the world - outstripping even China. 'Democracy' is dumped as soon as it ceases to be useful to contain struggles, as has happened innumerable times throughout history.

The way out is to: 1. stop borrowing (Banksters create money out of thin air, they do no real work, and collect exponential interest. No borrowing, no debt-slavery, and no money for the banksters); 2. stop paying taxes (Governments are a bunch of thieves that steal from the poor to give to the rich. That is the new purpose of the G20 summit. To create more money out of thin air and coerce countries into debt-slavery. No taxes, no military, no police, and no government); 3. sustainable consumption (Large corporations and retail stores draw their profit by forcing consumers to consume largely on credit. They increase their profit margin by producing in low cost regimes and selling at many times the cost in high cost regimes. By shopping selectively and relying on communal ownership and economic diversity, large corporations will either have to get their act to together, or face going out of business).

Nonsense-capitalism does not need democracy, in fact throughout history, capitalist greed has frequently usurped the public interest and welfare. Capitalism works better without democracy- there are no consumer watchdog groups, environmental activists, unions, etc.

The point is not who produces and who consumes. It is about sustainability, fairness, freedom, equality, opportunity, and real justice. We don't want too much government, too much police, too much inequality, too much prohibition, to much consumerism, too much inopportunity, and too much injustice.

Hey thanks - Jingo - I never knew wiping your arse was a capitalist invention! I wonder what people did in Feudal times? Must have been messy!

All these years I've been spouting Marx to all and sundry - if I'd realised that capitalism had single-handedly advanced us to the stage of clean sphincters I'd have given up before now, but now you've set me straight I will happily embrace global capitalism as the only possible structural economic form for a skid free world!
