Edd, one of the founders of the London Zine Symposium and Last Hours zine, traveled down to the debut Brighton Zine Fest this year to help run a workshop on the Saturday and to have a stall on the Sunday; though most of all he went to have fun! What follows is a personal account of the event.

Handmade Nation is an 156 page documentation of the rising DIY scene in North America. It features the work of 24 artists, crafters and makers form across the US. Each artist is given the opportunity to talk about their work and discuss their lives within the DIY community.
During the recent onslaught on Gaza I was attempting to work on an art project. I found it almost impossible to concentrate on anything though other than the constant barrage of news coming from Gaza about the destruction Israel was wrecking on a largely defenceless population. The comic was a response, of some sort, to my inability to understand this aggression, how pointless art appears when governments are willing to use such obscene violence to maintain their control.
